Your Echo7 AI assistant can be answering questions from your own content in a few minutes. This guide shows you how to create your first assistant, train it on your website, and add files such as manuals, FAQs and price lists. No coding is needed.

Step 1: Add your first AI assistant

1

In the Echo7 administration area, open the Data tab.

2

Find the manager you want to add the assistant to, click its contextual properties button and choose Add AI Assistant.

3

Under General Information, give your assistant a clear name that reflects what it is for, for example “Website Assistant” or “Product Support”.

4

Choose the Assistant Type that best matches your use case: AI Agent, Technical Support, Sales Support, Guest Assistance, Tourist Information, Training Tutor or Document Analysis.

The assistant type guides how your assistant behaves, but it doesn’t replace training. For the best results, pick the type closest to your use case and train it on content that fits that purpose.

Echo7 assigns your assistant an ID automatically. You don’t need to do anything with it now – it’s used later for embedding the assistant on your website and for integrations. To change an assistant later, go back to the Data tab, click the manager’s contextual button and choose Edit.

Step 2: Train it on your website

The quickest way to give your assistant knowledge is to point it at your website. Echo7 reads the pages and uses them to answer questions.

1

On the assistant’s page, scroll down to Training Sources.

2

In Add URL or Sitemap, enter your website address (for example https://www.yoursite.com) or your sitemap address (for example https://www.yoursite.com/sitemap.xml). Echo7 recognises a sitemap automatically when the address ends in .xml.

3

If you only want part of your site to be used, enter the sections in Include Paths, separated by commas, for example products, support, news.

4

To leave out pages that aren’t useful, enter them in Exclude Paths, for example admin, login, cart.

5

Save your changes. Echo7 starts downloading, indexing and training on your pages automatically.

Good to know

  • Only the domain you enter is included. Links to other websites aren’t followed, so add any other domains separately.
  • Include beats Exclude. If you include news/product and exclude news, pages under news/product are still used.
  • Train once for all languages. You don’t need a separate assistant for each language. Your assistant answers in the language your visitor asks in, whatever language your training content is in. For a multilingual site, train one assistant and avoid keeping duplicate content in sync.

Step 3: Add files to train your assistant

You can also train your assistant on documents you already have, such as manuals, FAQs, policies, price lists and brochures.

1

In Training Sources, click Add New Files.

2

Choose the files you want to upload. Supported formats are PDF, DOCX, PPTX, XLSX, HTML, TXT and CSV, up to 100 MB per file.

3

Your files appear under New Files or Sources. Check the list and remove anything you didn’t mean to add.

4

Save your changes. Echo7 extracts the text and trains your assistant automatically.

Tips for good results

  • PDFs need selectable text. If a PDF is only scanned images, Echo7 may not be able to read it.
  • Uploading a file with the same name replaces the old one. This is an easy way to update a document.
  • Keep spreadsheets tidy. For XLSX and CSV files, use one header row with clear column names and one record per row.
  • Files in the cloud? Use Add from Cloud to connect Google Drive, OneDrive, SharePoint, Dropbox, WordPress or Joomla, so new and updated content is picked up automatically.

Step 4: Check training and test your assistant

Once training finishes, your sources move to Already Uploaded Sources. The colour of each row shows its status:

Orange: training is still in progress.

Red: something went wrong. Open the row’s menu and choose Component List to see the text Echo7 extracted, then fix the file and upload it again.

When you change your website or a document, open the source’s menu and choose Retrain by Downloading Pages (for websites and cloud sources) or Retrain (for files) to bring your assistant up to date.

To try your assistant, open the URL to Display the AI Assistant in Embedding in Websites and ask it a few questions your customers often ask.

Next step: add it to your website

When you’re happy with the answers, go to Embedding in Websites on the assistant’s page. Copy the Integration Script into your website to add a floating chat button, or use the IFrame for Integration code to place the chat in a specific area of a page. You can also share the assistant’s direct URL without adding any code.
