When to use it

The IDP processing test lets you upload a document and see what Echo7 extracts, using the rules configured for your assistant.

It’s designed for setting up and fine-tuning IDP – especially before you connect it to a CRM, ERP or other system. Use it to check a new document type, a new layout, or the effect of changes to your rules.

Running a test

1

In the assistant’s context menu, choose IDP Processing Test.

2

Optionally select a Document Type. Leave it blank to let Echo7 recognise the document by itself, as it will in real use.

3

Tick Type Recognition Only if you just want to check the document is classified correctly.

4

Click Upload File or drag the file onto the page. You can upload PDF, JPG, PNG, TIFF, BMP, TXT or OGG audio.

5

Click Start Processing and wait for Processing Complete.

Reviewing the results

The View tab shows the extracted data in a readable format: document type, number, date, confidence, issuer, recipient, lines, quantities, prices, totals, payments and references. Work reports are shown grouped by resource.

  • You can edit any field directly – press Enter to move to the next one. Changes update the JSON immediately.
  • The JSON tab shows the data exactly as an external system would receive it, including validated fields.
  • Use Copy JSON or Download JSON to share the result with a developer – after you’ve finished reviewing it.
  • Click the X button to reset the page and test another document.

What to check each time

  • Was the document type recognised correctly – and the right layout used?
  • Are the header details, lines, quantities, prices and totals complete and correct?
  • Were payments and references picked up?
  • Did validation fields return the right codes?
  • Is the confidence score high? A low score means the result needs a closer look.

Best practices

  • Test with real documents, including clean, average and difficult examples.
  • Try several variants of the same document type – different lengths, missing values, data in different places.
  • If a result is wrong, adjust your rules or layouts and test again, rather than treating it as a one-off.
