What an integration is

An integration is a reusable connection to an external service – a CRM, e-commerce platform, management system, MCP server or API.

The integration holds everything that stays the same – the base URL, headers, authentication and agents – while each assistant only fills in its own values, such as an API key or shop URL. Change the integration once and every assistant using it benefits.

Step 1: Create the integration

1

In the Data tab, open the contextual menu at the level you want (for example your manager or a single assistant), choose Integrations and click Add.

2

Enter a short Name, such as “WooCommerce”, and a Description of what it connects to.

Tip: let AI do the groundwork

  • Use Generate Integration in the integrations list. Give it a name, a link to the service’s documentation and any instructions, and Echo7 will propose an integration and agents for you to review.
  • You can also Import or Export integrations as ZIP files.

Step 2: Add parameters

Parameters are the values each assistant must provide. For WooCommerce, these might be the shop URL, Consumer Key and Consumer Secret.

  • Give each parameter a clear technical Name, ideally with a prefix – for example integration_WooCommerceURL.
  • Choose the right Parameter Type. Use Password for secrets and tokens.
  • Add a Title and Field Description explaining where to find the value.
  • Mark parameters as Required if the integration can’t work without them.

Step 3: Set the request context

The request context holds the shared settings every agent uses, so you don’t repeat them:

  • URL – the service’s base URL. You can use parameters, for example {{integration_WooCommerceURL}}/wp-json/wc/v3/.
  • Header – common headers, one per line, such as an API key header.
  • Authentication Type – None, Basic, Bearer, Digest, OAuth 1.0, OAuth 2.0 or OAuth 2.1. See our integration authentication guide.

You can also add a Synonym Dictionary so different words users type – “purchase”, “sale” – map to the term your system uses, such as “order”.

Step 4: Add agents

Agents are the actions the integration makes available, such as “get order status”. Open the integration’s contextual menu and choose Agents for the Integration. Our agent guide explains how to set them up.

Step 5: Add it to your assistant

1

Edit your assistant and go to Integration Configuration.

2

Click Add Integration and select it.

3

Fill in the parameters it asks for.

4

Choose whether it’s Visible in Chat Selector, or runs silently in the background.

5

Click Agents to enable the agents this assistant should use.

Best practices

  • Keep credentials in integration parameters – never write them directly into agents.
  • Don’t rename parameters once they’re in use: placeholders that reference them will stop working.
  • Use Blocked to pause an integration without losing its configuration.
